When Will We Meet In-Person?
Staying connected with our people is important now more than ever.
Here at GEM, we had a great couple months reconnecting with our Tourism partners Coast to Coast to ask how everyone was doing and have candid conversations about where they are at in the business of meetings.
We were happy to hear of all sorts of ways destinations throughout Canada are meeting safely. Everyone we talked to was launching an initiative to support local, promote vacays at home or starting a local meeting incentive program to help with local tourism, meetings and events.
Synonymous with ‘Start the car!’, everyone is prepared and ready to go… ‘Let the meetings begin!’ During that time of lock down and being cooped up, destinations have re-configured their meeting spaces, re-invented their food and beverage options and re-defined how everything will look, feel and function within their venues. Many destinations have gotten safety certifications and trained their staff on how to serve you better safely.
As the vaccine campaigns continue rolling out, the new safety guidelines and protocols in place, the hope is that people will feel safe and have the ability to travel again in the near future.
After all the conversations we had with our Coast to Coast partners, one thing is very clear – the meetings industry is ready to welcome you! Let’s dip our toes back in the water together to feel, experience and see what these new meetings will bring!

We are super excited to start planning with YOU! As you know, planning for an in-person or hybrid meeting is going to look much different than it did before. There will be many factors to consider such as safe transportation, socially distanced floorplans, self-contained food and beverage options and ways to integrate a hybrid option for across-border attendees and speakers.
